Owen Landeg

Owen Landeg PhD is a Principal Environmental Public Health Scientist within the Extreme Events and Health Protection Team at Public Health England (PHE). Owen is also an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at School of Public Health, Imperial College London and Theme Leader within the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Environmental Change and Health.

Having studied at the Aon Benfield Hazard Research Centre, UCL and with a background in volcanic risk assessment, Owen has been with PHE for five years where his expertise focuses on public health actions that protect populations from extreme weather events and improve health and wellbeing, such as promoting active transport and green infrastructure. He has extensive operational experience supporting frontline health protection activity and translating evidence into national policy. Owen’s interests include reducing vulnerability to extreme weather events and climate change through sustainable development and appropriate preparedness, response and recovery.
