Angela Edwards

Angela Edwards has been the Seasonal Flu Lead in the PHE immunisation team since 2013 working with colleagues in PHE, NHS England and Improvement and DHSC on the national flu immunisation programme. This includes drafting the annual flu letter and working with marketing and communications colleagues on communications to the NHS, local authorities and charities, and developing resources for the public, parents and healthcare workers to encourage uptake. She was the PHE Topic Adviser for the NICE guidelines on improving flu vaccine uptake, published in 2018, and Specialist Committee Member on the NICE Quality Standards Advisory Committee on flu vaccination.

Angela has also commissioned attitudinal work on the wider immunisation programme, including annual tracking surveys on the views of parents of infants as well the views of teenagers. In the past she has worked in the Department of Health on the obesity and teenage pregnancy strategies, as well as in the R&D Directorate following her early career was as a researcher in a MRC funded unit.
