This week there were three HIV related announcements; new official statistics, the recipients of our HIV innovation fund and the launch of home sampling kits for HIV testing.
English Surveillance Programme for Antimicrobial Utilisation and Resistance (ESPAUR)
On Monday we published the second annual ESPAUR report. The report reveals a continued rise in antibiotic resistant infections.
This coming week eight young people are set to ‘take over’ PHE board meeting, sharing their views and posing questions. PHE's Kevin Fenton blogged about our participation in Takeover Challenge and discussed the wider issue of young people's emotional health and wellbeing.
Alcohol Awareness Week
This week was Alcohol Awareness Week. We shared useful slides, graphics and links across our social social media channels. Kevin Fenton blogged on Huffington Post to discuss how people can change their relationship with alcohol.
A new ONS report produced in conjunction with PHE has been published revealing the scale of inequalities in life expectancy and healthy life expectancy across England, but also within local authority areas.
Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week
We supported #COAwarenessWeek with social media activity, tweeting useful links on safety and how best to avoid CO poisoning.
World Antibiotic Awareness Week & European Antibiotic Awareness Day
The first #WAAW took place this week, with the annual #EAAD happening on Wednesday 18th November. During the course of the week we continued to spread awareness of antimicrobial resistance through our Antibiotic Guardian campaign. We hosted a Twitter chat on Thursday evening, and published a follow up blog to our previous '10 reasons YOU should be worried about antibiotic resistance' with a post introducing 7 more reasons!
We have now reached over 24,000 antibiotic guardians, and we urge anyone who is yet to pledge to please visit the campaign website.
